Rain makes a resounding return

With the crack of early morning thunder moister returned to the area. Leading up to the past two weeks lawns were looking crunchy and dry. The corn in the fields was starting to shrivel in the hot July sun and then beans weren’t looking to well either. Grain farmers were just starting to harvest the wheat crop in some areas.  Last week though that all came to an end when on Wednesday we received a half of an inch of rain by my gauges estimates.

The next day I was astounded to find my rain gauge filled up to the 3 inch mark after an early morning rain. The lawn almost immediately turned from a brown to green again. Farmers gladly let the rain stop them in the fields for a few days letting the wheat crop sit. Within hours of the rain lawn mowers could be heard rushing about throughout Ethan.  Many locals are calling it a million dollar rain. Every storm since  that’s been passing through recently has dropped a few hundredths hear and there. It all adds up and the moister is greatly appreciated specially in July.
