Homes on the range
Brandan Moe

Recently over the last few decades an unfortunate consumer trend has taken place.  Home buyers have become more concerned about square foot per dollar than quality and livability.  Large mansions have  become an infestation on the modern neighborhood landscape.  Huge vaulted entryways, giant interconnected rooms and soaring ceilings mark houses that are great for entertaining and impressing friends while we convince our selves that we have arrived and are happy in our mansions.  How often does the entertaining happen that it justifies building a home that is overlarge for living?  Does big and expensive really translate into happiness?

Ethan has something to offer that makes a lot of sense. In this day and age, a time of great consumer expenses, Ethan offers affordable, comfortable, cozy small town living, with reasonably sized homes in a wonderful rural setting. Large back yards for entertaining, well kept city park to enjoy. Quiet streets, people out and about walking, talking, and playing ball.

Ethan offers homes built in the early part of the 20th century that were built with livability in mind.  They were marked by warmth, comfort and smaller spaces that fit people.  Do you really need a 500 square foot great room with 12’ ceilings when all your family and the furniture to accommodate them only takes up about 120 square feet?

Just something to think about when you decide to relocate, build a new home, or are looking for an older home. Small rural towns like Ethan offer so much more then just a place to live but offers a community. Something larger places lack is that we know all our neighbors and know them as friends.
